What exactly is MoDeck?
MoDeck turns After Effects MOGRTs into controlled browser-based video templates. A template owner chooses what can change, editors add their content online, and the finished videos are rendered through After Effects on the owner's own machine. It is designed for repeatable video versioning rather than freeform editing or cloud rendering.
How do I turn an After Effects project into a MoDeck template?
Add the controls editors should use to the After Effects Essential Graphics panel, export one or more MOGRT files, and place them in a template folder inside your MoDeck sync folder. Existing After Effects-authored MOGRTs usually work when they use supported controls such as text, numbers, colors, menus, checkboxes, position, scale, and compatible media replacement. Do editors need After Effects?
No. Editors only need a browser and an invitation or Enterprise Magic Link. The template owner or render operator needs After Effects and the MoDeck desktop app.
Can editors preview their changes before rendering?
Yes. While a compatible MoDeck desktop app is online, an editor can request still-frame previews rendered by After Effects. Template owners can choose useful preview moments with

They are rendered on your own After Effects computer. The desktop app receives an online request, assembles and renders the edit through After Effects or Media Encoder, then uploads the requested output so it can be downloaded or delivered to the editor. Rendering options.
What output formats can MoDeck render?
MoDeck supports MP4, MOV, JPG, PNG, and GIF output. You can also add Adobe Media Encoder EPR presets for other formats supported by your local setup, and template owners can decide whether editors may choose the output format online. Render settings.
Can MoDeck create videos from spreadsheet or JSON data?
Yes. Map MOGRT and global controls to CSV or Google Sheets columns, or fetch values from JSON. Each included row or array item can become a separate video version. Batch limits and JSON array output depend on the plan. Data-driven video.
Are my After Effects projects uploaded?
No. After Effects projects, local MOGRT files, fonts, plugins, and rendering remain on your computer. MoDeck syncs the editable template data, while editor-uploaded media, preview frames, and finished outputs are transferred when the workflow needs them.
Can I share a template without creating an account for every editor?
Yes, with Enterprise Magic Links. A link can open one specific template without a MoDeck account and can optionally collect a delivery email or require the template owner's approval before rendering.
Can I customize or embed the browser editor?
Enterprise accounts can apply custom colors and a logo, embed a Magic Link editor on another website, and send customized notification emails through their own SMTP account. The MoDeck API can automate supported template, media, sharing, preview, and rendering workflows.
